• Steve is originally from Hamilton, Ontario.
• He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and his Master's degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University.
• He worked as an anchor and Queen's Park correspondent for CBLT, a host of CBC Newsworld and as a reporter for the Hamilton Spectator and CHFI in Toronto.
• Steve began his career at TVO in 1992, hosting or co-hosting programs such as Studio 2, Between the Lines, Diplomatic Immunity and was cocreator and host of Fourth Reading.
• In 2006 he began as anchor and senior editor of The Agenda with Steve Paikin, which launched its 7th season on September 4, 2012.
• Steve has also produced a number of award-winning feature length documentaries: Return to the Warsaw Ghetto, A Main Street Man, Balkan Madness, Teachers, Tories and Turmoil and Chairman of the Board: The Life and Death of John Robarts.
• Steve has authored four books: The Life: The Seductive Call of Politics; The Dark Side: The Personal Price of a Political Life; Public Triumph, Private Tragedy: The Double Life of John P. Robarts; and The New Game: How Hockey Saved Itself.
• He has received honourary degrees from Humber College, Laurentian University, and Victoria University.
• He moderated the last three federal election leaders’ debates (English) and the last two provincial election leaders’ debates.
• In February 2012, Steve was named the Queen's Park journalist with the most Twitter influence in a study conducted by PR agency Hill+Knowlton Strategies.
